BlackSea Technologies Named Initial Certified Training Provider for AUVSI’s Trusted UMS Operator Program

BALTIMORE, MD, May 27, 2025 – BlackSea Technologies (“BlackSea”), a leader in the development of innovative maritime systems and mission solutions for the defense and intelligence communities, today announced it has been selected as one of the first certified training providers for the Trusted UMS Operator Program recently launched by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).  BlackSea’s Director of Integrated Product Support, Jim Kockler, who built and leads the company’s training program, served as one of the founding committee members guiding the development of the AUVSI program.

2025 William T. Pecora Award Nominations Now Being Accepted

The William T. Pecora Award is presented annually to individuals or teams using satellite or aerial remote sensing that make outstanding contributions toward understanding the Earth (land, oceans, and air), educating the next generation of scientists, informing decision-makers, or supporting natural or human-induced disaster response. Both national and international nominations are welcome. The award is sponsored jointly by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was established in 1974 to honor the memory of Dr. William T. Pecora, former Director of the U.S. Geological Survey and Under Secretary, Department of the Interior.
