From Unmanned Systems magazine: Drones offer safe, efficient tool for insurance companies
Over the years, drones have proven to be extremely beneficial for the insurance sector, offering safe and efficient tools for companies to use during various tasks.
In 2014, State Farm — a pioneer in the insurance sector for using this technology — began looking at how to use drones for claims. Just a few short years later in Aug. 2017, the company began using drones for real-life claims and hasn’t looked back.
“They’ve definitely provided a tool that we did not necessarily have in the past,” drone pilot Jared Brose tells Unmanned Systems. “They allow us to get out there and get in the air as quickly as possible and handle a claim as quickly as possible.”

XPO Preview: Illinois companies gravitate to unmanned, autonomous technologies
Companies in Illinois, home to the upcoming AUVSI Xponential conference and exhibition, have for years been researching, testing and ultimately benefiting from unmanned systems technologies throughout the state.
In 2015, the largest electric utility in Illinois, Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), became the first electric utility company to be granted permission by the Federal Aviation Administration to operationally use UAS.

Nationwide looking to leverage AI and UAS technology through investment in Betterview

From Unmanned Systems Magazine: How can insurers benefit from using drones?
Insurers fundamentally sell and must deliver on promises. So, we expect them to be rock-solid, reliable, and conservative. And yet we also hope that they will innovate, adopt new technologies and adapt accordingly. Each carrier strikes their own balance, which is reflected in their varied approaches to unmanned aircraft.

From Unmanned Systems Magazine: DRONES AND INSURANCE: UNDERSTANDING, AND MITIGATING, THE RISKS OF UNMANNED FLIGHT
In the beginning, man created model aircraft, and they had no cameras. So man created MIL-SPEC manned and unmanned aerial systems with a broad range of image capture and sensing devices. And those were expensive. So man crafted silicon from sand, and from silicon was born digitization, miniaturization, wireless communication, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and a generation of creative technologists. And Gordon Moore declared Moore’s Law, not in that order, and with a few steps in between.

ProSky Studio achieves ARGUS Unmanned Gold Rating
ProSky Studio, which is a full-service aerial UAS provider, has achieved ARGUS International's ARGUS Unmanned Gold Rating, which is one of three achievable ARGUS Ratings for unmanned operators.
In order to earn the ARGUS Unmanned Gold Rating, unmanned operators must meet several criteria, including having at least one UAS in operation, they must have pilot backgrounds checked, and they must be a legal entity with applicable insurance.
“More than ever, creating a culture of safety is paramount within the rapidly expanding Unmanned Aerial Systems industry,” says Joe Moeggenberg, ARGUS CEO and Founder.

Farmers Insurance launches UAS program
In an effort to “enhance the claims experience for customers who have suffered significant damage to their roof following major weather events,” Farmers Insurance has announced that it is launching a UAS program.
Farmers conducted field tests to examine the “most effective and customer-centric ways” of utilizing UAS technology with its existing claims operation. Now, the company will expand its use of the technology to help with residential property damage assessments, as it seeks to provide a more enhanced experience for its customers.
