October 22, Arlington, Va. – Today, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued the final version of its Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) for powered lift aircraft operations.

FAA Selects NPUASTS for Radar Data Pathfinder Program

GRAND FORKS, North Dakota – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced a formal agreement with the state of North Dakota, through the Northern Plains UAS Test Site, a state agency, to use federal radar data to advance the integration of beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) UAS operations into the National Airspace System (NAS). FAA Deputy Administrator Katie Thomson made the announcement on stage at the UAS Summit & Expo in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The agreement marks a first-of-its-kind, government-to-government release of federal radar data. The data is integrated into Vantis, North Dakota’s system for BVLOS UAS operations. The NPUASTS is the first participant in the program.

AURA Network Systems Announces Publication of RTCA DO-406

Standards Development Organization Establishes UHF Radio Performance Standards for UAS Command and Control McLean, Va. (October 3, 2024) – AURA Network Systems today announced the publication of RTCA DO-406, a new document outlining the Minimum Operational Performance Standards for UHF Airborne Radio Systems Supporting UAS C2 Link Systems. The document was developed with the leadership of AURA’s technical experts working with the RTCA Special Committee (SC-228), which is responsible for developing standards to support large UAS operations. The publication of standards for a dedicated UHF C2 Link System marks a significant advancement in aviation communications.
